Artists Statement:
My work stems from the center of who I am and the solitude
of what I admire.I have sentimental feelings for the presence
of those moments that linger in my heart and continue
to grow as a part of me. Those moments that pronounce my
name; a quiet road where a shared look of understanding
lingers in my mind, a rose bush that has captured enduring
conversations, or a couch that brought me quiet acceptance.
I seek that which is not always evident or easily obtainable
and I find a place of quiet that rests in the knowledge
of some event close to my heart.
This sometimes disturbing and noisy world creates an environment
of complications that can cause me to look deep into the
small things that are brought to me each day. Especially
my heritage, as I call it, my past, my present; things that
I receive from generations of stories and experiences, each
personal and reborn in the quiet of my memory. Bringing
all of this into perspective I choose a basic palette and
carefully create mellow harmonies that blend with the calm
of these intimate interiors; a subject that is intimate
in size and draws on my basic concept of inner peace.
