About The Ozark Artists Colony
Who
are Ozark Artist Colony members?
The Ozark Artists Colony is a group of producing artists
who share a significant commitment to participation in
the field of Art. We share expectations to a growing professionalism.
This means an ongoing relationship to producing, exhibiting,
and selling works of art along with participation in the
related activities in participating in the art field.
What is the OAC site?
The OAC web site is a sister site to The Arts of the Four
States - www.4statearts.com
. The OAC serves as an online gallery, representing artists
who work in a variety of mediums. We are constantly exploring
resources to support developing and producing artists.
We are working to help artists take there place in the
daily community of Art.
The benefits...
An online gallery
Artists provide images that OAC places on your own page
where both your customers and future customers can view
them. OAC members online provided a 100% satisfaction
guarantee to our customers. Gallery links of your representation
are listed on your page so your customers know where else
to see some of your artwork in person.
Online sales
support
OAC will help with the online or mail payment transfer
so your customers can purchase your work from anywhere
the internet reaches. (There is a 5% fee to cover these
expenses). Each page is equipped with a counter to let
you monitor your traffic.
OAC art shows
The Ozark Artist Colony sponsors 1 or 2 shows each year.
Recent shows have included two charity events with The
March of Dimes and The American Heart Association. A show
at the Post Memorial Library Museum, an online auction
for Spiva's 12 x 12 auction, and an online auction for
OAC artists with original artwork displayed at Club 1201
in Joplin, Mo.
Promotion
The Joplin Globe advertises the Ozark Artists Colony website
in the paper and in our online publication. www.joplinglobe.com.
For special OAC events there is additional promotion.
OAC continually explores new ways to serve and support
artists, such as posting show listings along with notes
on artists that teach classes or take commissions.
Artist biography and artist statement page supports the
gallery page by giving viewers more information about
you as an artist.
The Arts of the Four States - 4statearts.com features
artists with stories about their latest shows, achievements
awards, special accomplishments of notoriety, calendar
of events etc...
Should
you join the colony?
Before you can answer that... here are some things you
should think about:
When considering submitting for OAC membership you want
to look
at what you, as an artist, are doing:
• Do you produce a yearly body of work?
• Is there a philosophy behind what you do?
• Are you an active artist in the regional art community?
• Have you developed your artist statement, biography
and visual portfolio?
• Are you exhibiting your work in galleries and
juried spaces?
• Are you routinely communicating to other Art professionals
as part of your studio activity?
• Are you submitting to competitive exhibitions
or soliciting Gallery representation?
• Are you presenting or working toward one or two
person shows?
• Where are you in your Art publicity and distribution?
• Are you sharing what you have, by teaching, public
speaking, judging or juroring shows?
We want to welcome everyone who will benefit from an OAC
membership by being up front with our real life experience
of the internet art world to date. Unsolicited internet
sales of art to buyers or collectors, with no connection
to the artist or there work, rarely happen for anyone
but the already famous. Placing your work on the OAC site
will not make you famous. The OAC site is support and
will not be effective without the artist doing there own
activity. It is up to each OAC member to use the site
to their best benefit.
